Volunteer Community Fundraiser

Role summary

 The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (ROH) is one of the largest specialist orthopaedic units in Europe. We offer planned orthopaedic surgery to people locally, nationally and internationally. As a volunteer community fundraiser you will play a key role of increasing awareness and understanding of our work and the importance of our charitable fund. This might be through helping out at a local event, holding your own fundraiser or talking to members of your community. 

You will be joining a dedicated team of Royal Orthopaedic volunteers who understand the importance of the Trust and how the charity helps to improve patient experience. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to empathise, yet remain impartial and an understanding of the importance of confidentiality. 

Typical role tasks:
(You will be able to choose which tasks you would prefer to be involved with)

  • Become familiar with the work of the hospital and the impact of the charitable fund
  • Become familiar with our fundraising activities 
  • Engage with the community to raise awareness of the hospital
  • Work with the fundraising officer to attend local events, community talks and obtain donations
  • Work with the fundraising officer to build relationships with with local businesses
  • Collect donations from members of the local community and inform them of how they could get involved
  • Ensure all donations and expressions of interest in fundraising and/or volunteering are passed back to the fundraising officer

  • Enthusiastic, friendly and approachable
  • Confident speaker and confident in responding to questions
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work with own initiative
  • Willingness to ask for support through fundraising or donating to the charitable fund
  • Team player
  • To be able to attend regular fundraiser meetings at the ROH
