Information for Outpatients

When arriving for an outpatient appointment please go straight to the Outpatient Department via the main entrance, at gate C.

Travel & Parking

If you are arriving by car please follow the driveway from Gate C to the patient car park. Designated patient and visitor parking is available outside outpatients and the physiotherapy gym. Spaces for disabled drivers are available, located mainly close to the Outpatients Department. As the Hospital has limited parking, please be aware at busy times it may take longer to find a space to park.

Patient and Visitor Car Parking Charges

Additional parking is available on the Bristol Road outside the hospital in clearly marked bays. Parking here is free but strictly limited to three hours between 7am and 4pm. Parking on the Bristol Road outside the hospital is enforced by police and traffic wardens. Please ensure you adhere to signs and restrictions referring to these spaces. These spaces are not controlled by the hospital and therefore cannot take responsibility for any penalties or fines incurred as a result of parking on the Bristol Road.

The hospital is on the West Midland bus route 61, 63 and 98 from Birmingham City Centre. These buses stop just outside the hospital at entrance A. You can find a map and further information about travelling to the ROH under Find Us section of this website.

Your Appointment

Upon arrival you can either use a self check-in kiosk or report to the outpatient reception desk. Please check your appointment letter for information regarding the location of your clinic.   Look out for a hospital volunteer in the main reception area who will be available to help with any queries.

We always do our best to keep waiting times as short as possible, however there are times where delays may occur.  Our consultants and their teams try to give enough time to each patient to fully examine them and explain what treatment is needed and we feel sure you, as a patient, would recognise that this sometimes causes delays. Please also  be aware you may not always be seen by the consultant themselves, but by an experienced member of their team.

Please help us to offer the best service we can by informing the hospital as soon as possible if you are not able to attend your appointment. We may be able to give your appointment to someone else. If you do not attend your appointment and have not notified us, we will refer you back to your GP.

Services and facilities available on site

During your visit to the hospital you will be able to purchase a range of hot and cold beverages, light snacks and confectionery from the WRVS Coffee Shop located on the ground floor of the main reception area in outpatients. Alternatively, our restaurant offers a range of healthy hot meals and a relaxing atmosphere.

A cash point is located opposite the X-Ray department.
