Preparing for your stay in hospital

When you arrive as an inpatient please follow the instructions on your admissions letter. This will tell you where you need to go for booking in your stay.

If you are having an operation you may have been advised not to eat or drink before arriving at the hospital (fasting or nil by mouth). It is important for your safety that you follow the advice given to you about eating and drinking before your operation. The printable leaflet (link below) will give you further information about your operation and staying at the hospital

Checklist:

You may wish to bring in the following items to make your stay comfortable:

  • Nightwear
  • Dressing gown
  • Slippers
  • Bath/ Hand towel
  • Toiletries
  • Spectacles and a hearing aid if you need them
  • Dentures if you need them, ideally with a pot labelled with your name (a pot can be provided on request)
  • Small amount of cash
  • Any regular medication

Please avoid bringing large amounts of money and valuables with you.
