The Staff League

If you've ever worked here at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, you'll understand that it's a very special place. Many people over the years have worked with us - some for a season, others their entire careers; all of them with fond memories of the place and the people they've met.

The Staff League exists to connect former and current employees of the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. It's a way to stay in touch with friends and former colleagues and find out more about what's going on at the hospital now.

If you worked here, or work here now we'd love for you to join us and become a member. The Staff League is open to everyone.

What we do

The Staff League meets once a year on the second Saturday in May, beginning the day with an interesting clinical lecture, then lunch followed by our Annual General Meeting. It's always a pleasure to reconnect with members and catch up. The Staff League currently has about 150 members, some as far flung as Australia and New Zealand. We also produce an annual newsletter to keep members up-to-date with the latest news from the League and the hospital.

We also oversee some specific funds which support the hospital, including an annual £1,000 educational fund which was established following generous bequests from a former Tutor and Nursing Officer.

Join The Staff League

Joining The Staff League is easy, simply contact one of our officers members below who will get back in touch with you. There is an annual fee of just £5 to pay which covers event and newsletter publication costs.

The history of The Staff League

The Staff League began life in 1964 as the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital League for Nurses and Physiotherapists. It was one of the first multi-professional leagues in the UK. Following the changes in Nurse and Physiotherapist training, the League committee decided to open membership up to everyone.

That was 52 years ago and we're still meeting every year! Come and join us!
