Biography

Andrew Cumming MClinSci, BSc (Hons), MCHS, HPC Registered

Andy Qualified from the University of Huddersfield with a BSc (Hons) degree in Podiatry in 2002 and is a HPC Registered Podiatrist.  Andy has worked at the Royal Orthopaedic hospital since October 2016 and is now an integral part of the foot and ankle team. He has an extensive experience in gait analysis, biomechanics of the foot and ankle, Custom orthotics, injection therapy and Fluoroscopy and is a keen advocate of evidence based practice and is keen to see more research undertaken to aid with future developments.

Andy undertook a Master’s degree in Clinical Sciences (MClinSci) at the University of Warwick Medical School looking at the Foot function in the healthy and diabetic population. The final dissertation research undertaken as part of this Masters has been Published in the Diabetic Foot Journal in 2010 that looked at the pressure of the foot and the way it functioned.

Andy worked in Greenwich, south east London since between 2012 and 2016 during this time has helped to develop the community staff in Podiatry and in the MSK service.  Training and expanding his knowledge of the foot and ankle is a key part of the role in the MSK Service and he has been undertaking a CASE registered MSK Sonography course via the Centre for Ultrasound Studies he completed in 2015.

Andy has experience of working in a multi-disciplinary Diabetic foot team focusing upon Biomechanical complaints of the foot and ankle. Orthopaedics then became the main focus of Andy’s career as work the Greenwich MSK ICATS team.
