Nicky Southall

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Biography

Nicky is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.

She qualified at The University of Birmingham with a Bachelor of Nursing (Hons) degree in 2000. She gained her specialist training at The University of Leicester and began working at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust in 2010.

Nicky specialises in the care of adult spinal patients, and has a particular interest in adult degenerative spines. She works across the trust covering ward one (spinal ward) where she works alongside the medical team and nursing team in the pre and post-operative care of patients; pre-operative assessment clinic where she medically reviews and clerks patients as part of the pre-operative assessment pathway, and in outpatients where she works in clinic reviewing new and review adult spinal patients.

Nicky also is working on key projects in the trust, most notably the British Spinal Registry alongside the spinal team.
