Research and teaching
The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust in Birmingham is one of the largest orthopaedic centres in Europe. The Trust offers planned specialist care for all of the orthopaedic subspecialties, from elective arthroplasty for local patients, through to regional and supra-regional services (for example in spinal surgery and oncology).
Research at the ROHResearch is how new knowledge is gained and how new treatments are developed which allow us provide patients with the best possible care. Evidence suggests that patients receiving treatment in research-active NHS organisations have better outcomes.
TeachingWorking in partnership with the University of Birmingham, each year up to 480 fourth-year medical students complete a two week musculoskeletal placement at the the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital.
Clinical TrialsThe Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is involved with a number of clinical trials. Clinical trials are research studies involving people.
