The transition of Paediatric Services

Transition of inpatient paediatric services from the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital

Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust (BWC) has been requested by NHS England as specialised commissioners and local clinical commissioning groups to develop the paediatric orthopaedic service in order to provide inpatient orthopaedic activity currently provided by the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (ROH).

We’ve been working closely with our colleagues at BWC throughout with the joint priority of ensuring the safe and appropriate transfer of services for our patients and families.

This transition of the inpatient service, which will take place on 1 July 2019, has been carefully planned to ensure this important service remains safe and sustainable, which has included work to increase and improve theatres capacity at our Children’s Hospital.

Outpatient services will continue to be provided here at ROH, which means that some patients will continue to have appointments there and children, young people and families will have one Consultant leading their care throughout their journey.

We’ll continue to keep families updated ahead of and after the official transfer date. Should you have any questions please do email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
